Dr. Sheldon Benjamin is Vice Chair for Education, Director of Neuropsychiatry, and Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. Dr. Benjamin completed Residencies in Psychiatry and Neurology at Tufts New England Medical Center and Boston University and a Fellowship in Behavioral Neurology. He is Board Certified in both Psychiatry and Neurology by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry by the United Council on Neurological Subspecialties.

A specialist in the evaluation of behavioral problems at the interface of psychiatry and neurology such as movement disorders, seizure disorders, dementia, neurodevelopmental disability, stroke, traumatic brain injury, and inherited neuropsychiatric disorders, he teaches clinical neuroscience and neuropsychiatry, and has published and presented widely on neuropsychiatry, clinical neuroscience training of psychiatrists, neurocognitive and neuropsychiatric examination techniques, and the history of neuropsychiatry.
